The happy union of bananas and toffee, banoffee pie is a British invention consisting of thick caramel sauce, sliced bananas, and whipped cream, all layered in a cookie crust. Because no baking is required (the refrigerator does the work!), it's the pie to put together when you're looking for a rich and decadent dessert but you don't have the time or desire to get out a rolling pin or preheat the oven.
