This is the most popular recipe in our household. My grandma would oven-fry her chicken exactly like this, and I added the step of brining it in sweet tea—another homage to her, as she always had a pitcher of homemade sweet tea in her fridge. You will not believe that this chicken didn't come out of the fryer, and if you want to skip the brine, the method still works great.
